Johor Aims To Attract More Tourists From ASEAN Countries
Johor aims to attract more tourists from ASEAN countries via its business-to-business (B2B) sales missions to various countries this year. State Tourism, Trade and Consumerism Committee chairman, Datuk Tee Siew Kiong, said the B2B promotions were expected to give better impact. “We can match tour agencies in both destinations. This year we will undertake promotion missions to Ho Chi Minh City and Indonesia,” he told reporters at Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Foon Yew 5.

Tee said in January, the first B2B mission was to Myanmar in conjunction with ASEAN Travel Forum. He said other than the attractive destination to visit, the flights that directly connected Senai to other international destinations were also another attractive factor to attract tourists to Johor. “Other than Ho Chi Minh Cityu, five key cities in Indonesia, Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Yogyakarta and Lombok, also had direct flight connections from Senai,” he said.

In 2014, the state attracted over 20,979 tourists, with 80 per cent from Singapore. Meanwhile, Tee said Johor Tourism Department will hold ‘Explore Johor Sabah from July 3-5 in conjunction with Matta Fair Sabah which would he held in Suria Shopping Mall, Kota Kinabalu. “This is an effort by the state government to encourage B2B domestic sales,” he said. – Bernama News.
